Ciba Karisik

A native of Sarajevo, Bosnia, Ciba Karisik was born in 1959 to an artistic heritage. The smell of oils as a child fostered the artist in him. Ciba pursued the passion that would become his career after completing his Bachelor and Master degrees at the Sarajevo Academy of Fine Art.

Ciba’s technique reflects a profound respect for tradition. The drama in his paintings is conveyed by the principal tools at the artist’s disposal-color, light, and brushstroke. Ciba’s power of observation creates an eternal life for the objects painted. His works capture the fragility of Time. They express his keen sense of the brevity of life.

The artist currently lives in Toronto with his wife and their daughter. He exhibits with Wellington Gallery (Aurora) and De Luca Fine Art (Toronto). His works have been shown at Loch Gallery (Toronto-Calgary-Winnipeg), Hubert Gallery in New York City, and Whistler Art Gallery. Ciba’s art is also part of many private collections including those of Brian Mulroney, Alex Trebek, Martin Short, Martha Stewart, and Bono of U2 fame.
